A kneeler created to explore the transformation of profane into sacred and the physical act of kneeling

Reclaimed pallet-wood, mirror, fabric and pyrography

From a position of kneeling the viewer faces a mirror placed on the wall, confronting their own reflection and words of affirmation burnt into the surface of the kneeler in reverse. The work aims to create friction between a submissive act and an existential confrontation with Self.
