Limpets

2022

Limpets presents three identical nine-sided sculptures created during the Your Voice 2 artist residency in November 2022, hosted by Artspace Portsmouth in partnership with Motiv8, a local charity supporting young people. Inspired by the limpets that cling to the Round Tower in Old Portsmouth, the works offer a site-specific reflection on the coastal ecosystem and a poetic symbol of resilience.

Each sculpture houses electronics that generate responsive soundscapes drawn from field recordings in Old Portsmouth, interwoven with voices and interviews recorded by young people from Motiv8 in 2021.
