I’m thrilled to announce that I have been awarded an Arts Council England (ACE) Project Grant Award to present Nothing ‘is’ Immediate: Geometric Sculptural Installations.
For this project, I will create a series of geometric sculptures based on the five Platonic solids. Each sculpture will measure 90cm in diameter and incorporate sound frequencies mathematically linked to its geometry. The interiors will be accessible, manipulating light to produce visual illusions such as finite darkness, infinite reflections, and vibrant color effects.
The project will feature four exhibitions over 12 months, including participatory live-art events designed for neurodiverse and disabled audiences. The installations aim to challenge perceptions of art by exploring the concepts of sacredness, wellbeing, and function.
The title Nothing ‘is’ Immediate reflects a philosophical concept:
- Nothing and Being are the same, equating to Becoming.
- Jean-Paul Sartre suggests that nothingness relates to free consciousness and spontaneity.
- The ‘is’ indicates limits, while Immediate refers to the present moment.
In essence, the project explores how free consciousness and spontaneity happen in the present.
No Thing ‘is’ Immediate is supported by public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
