Mokuhanga is the traditional Japanese technique of water-based woodblock printing. It is known for its deep connection to natural materials, including wood, water, pigment, and paper. The printing process of using a hand-held baren on damp paper, allows for subtle transparent layers of colour, soft blends (bokashi), and a distinct tactile quality.
